The client requested a very large covered patio for protection from the elements and extra shade in the summer months, but mostly to relax with neighbors, friends and family. The structure was built in 4 days (with extra finishes taking an additional 4 days) and was completed in time for a large family reunion which was a hit for the party. The Large Free-Standing Patio was built with 6x6 on 4 foot concrete piers, cladded out with 1 inch pine to receive electrical conduit for lighting and ceiling fans. Additionally cladded out with faux stone half way up the pillars with 2 foot stone cap, metal flashing, and color matching the inside board and batten to the house paint.
This ceiling can be done in any color and many styles; board and batten, regular siding, vented soffit, tongue and grove pine, the possibilities are endless with the color and material that can be used on the inside ceiling. The roof features architectural 30 year shingles. On top of the 6x6 posts, are engineered 2x12 beams LBL's on all four sides. Engineered roof trusses made it cost effective and quick to build.
