The Deck with the Tree in the Middle was a full property rehab, with the house completely gutted on the inside and repurposed for a young family. The backyard pool was also rehabbed and new pavers were installed all over the backyard.
Deck was designed to accommodate that the tree will grow over time and was framed out of pressure treated wood, finished with a jungle gray composite deck board that will last much longer than traditional wood. Traditional wood decks have a lifespan of 10 to 15 years. Because composite decking is weather, insect, and rot resistant, it will last for 25 to 30 years or longer. The deck was built with metal railing and balusters which finished it with upscale and luxurious look.
This two level deck was built into a hill overlooking the Thames Conservation area and because we needed to maintain a 4 foot depth for the frost line on the footings, we were able to have Badger Daylighting™ Hydrovac (hydro-excavation) Services Company help us create holes up to 12 feet deep and backfill with concrete to attain the required depth.
We finished the project with decorative landscape lighting which served as a safety feature and enjoyable mood lighting.
